Brett Saunders’ Fundraiser
Dear friends and family,
I am participating in the 15th annual Tampa Bay Frogman Swim January 14th, 2024. It is a 3.5 mile swim from St Pete to Tampa. Each athlete will raise a minimum of $2,000.00, with 100% of the net proceeds going to the Navy Seal Foundation. It benefits families of wounded or fallen Navy Seals through five Pillars of Support - Strength, Resilience, Health Education, and Community. Whether it is helping them transition to successful civilian careers or assisting families that lost a loved one, the Navy Seals Foundation has over 30 essential programs to support our heroes and their families.
Back in 1987, my mom swam 564 miles around Lake Ontario and raised $300,000 (nearly $900k adjusted for inflation) for Multiple Sclerosis. While the swim I'm doing is not quite as long, it serves just as meaningful of a purpose. One of my all-time favorite movies is American Sniper. It encapsulates one of the greatest Navy Seals snipers ever and his struggle to feel "normal" again outside of the war. He ended up finding great meaning after serving in the Iraq war by partnering with a nonprofit to provide personal training, and life-coaching to in-need veterans with disabilities. Sadly a mentally ill veteran ended up killing him, infatuating the need for support post-war for veterans. By raising money, we are doing our part in improving the physical/mental health of veterans and their families and making this world a better place.
Anyone who donates will be a part of our team, University of Tampa Swimming Alumni, the "Aquaspartans!" If you would like to purchase our team shirt, please message me on social media or text me at (302) 690-5169.
